Wade Bowen is previewing his upcoming studio album with the release of the new single “Burned In The Fire.”  Bowen announced his 11th studio album, The Version of Me You Get, which is scheduled for release Sept. 25. The 10-track project was co-produced with longtime collaborator Sean McConnell and marks a more introspective chapter for Bowen, blending roots-driven sounds with songs centered on love, hardship and redemption.

Written alongside Sean McConnell, Bowen shares that “Burned In The Fire' was an older song that I dug back up, which I tend to do when I'm making a record. I like going through the catalog and finding songs that didn't quite fit before but finally do. This one ended up being a little different for me from start to finish. There's an anger that happens with it lyrically that I don't usually use a lot in my songs. I really like when this emotion comes out as it shows a different kind of passion with songwriting.”

Bowen revealed that the album was completed several years ago but remained shelved as touring and other projects took priority. Revisiting the recordings more recently, he said the material resonated differently after a period of personal and professional challenges. “I didn't really know what I was looking for when I first made this record. When it was finished, life picked up, and other plans came together. The timing never quite lined up, and it just sat there,” Bowen said. “It wasn't until recently that I pulled it back out. Honestly, it felt more relevant than it did back then.”

Bowen previously released “People Like Us,” which drew inspiration from difficult experiences that included vocal surgery and struggles away from the stage. Both songs point toward a collection built around candid storytelling and emotional honesty. The album also features the singles  “Turpentine,” “Weight On The Levee,” “The Garden” and the title track, which closes the record.
