World renowned Country General Store celebrates 60 years in SoCal with fundraiser for Children of the Night

Lucchese Bootmaker Trunk Show to be centerpiece of opportunity to help organization rescuing runaway and children based in Van Nuys

(SEPTEMBER 22, 2016) -- The Country General Store has established itself as a fixture in Southern California providing custom Western wear for the general public and countless celebrities. Their extensive collection of high end and personally designed Western wear has been featured in numerous films and television shows – from NCIS and Dancing With the Stars to the new feature film The Magnificent Seven, No Country for Old Men and Land of the Lost.

“We have a great store here and we really thank our long-time customers but we also want to give back to our community at the same time,” announced Rick Stanoff, owner of CGS. “We’re celebrating our 60th Anniversary this year. Over the October 21st and 22nd weekend, we are hosting a Lucchese Boot Trunk Show and we are incorporating a number of celebrity autographed items into a fundraiser with silent and live auctions. The proceeds of the auctions will be donated to an organization that operates in our backyard, Children of the Night. I have supported them for over 20 years and they make a life-saving difference to hundreds of teens each year.”

Working quietly behind the scenes to tackle an endemic problem many people don’t even realize exists, Dr. Lois Lee founded Children of the Night in 1992 to save the helpless children and teens who are victims of human sex trafficking and prostitution. Children of the Night works with law enforcement nation-wide to rescue victims and provide shelter, education and a loving environment were they can recover, grow and become successful young adults. The thousands of success stories are too numerous to list but feel free to check out their website at www.childrenofthenight.org.

Stanoff is committed to helping Children of the Night and felt the Trunk Show would be a great opportunity for people to not only visit his store to update their western wear but to help a good cause at the same time. He did a small fundraiser last year and raised over $11,000 for the group and hopes to dramatically increase that this year.

A number of Rick’s celebrity clientele are donating autographed items, such as a guitar personally signed by Darryl Hall of Hall & Oates, and a Stetson hat autographed by Dwight Yoakam. The silent auction will be open from 4-8pm on Friday evening Oct. 21, and 10am-4pm on Saturday, Oct. 22. The live auction, hosted by David Koechner, will take place at 3:30pm on Saturday, with a number of special celebrity guests in attendance.

For more information on the event, please visit the store at 6729 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys; visit: facebook/countrygeneral, or call the store at 818.782-8327.
