Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you"—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd"—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence—a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising "twist" ending of the play. RACE FOR THE RESCUES a non-profit event, has helped save the lives of homeless dogs, cats and horses in Southern California over the last nine years. This year is our "10th Anniversary …we are excited to announce that the event will be hosted by celebrity and animal lover JANE LYNCH!

THE RESCUE TRAIN hosts this unique “professionally timed” sporting event that you can run or walk with your dog in our 5K, 10K, 1K dog walk and Kid’s fun run to raise funds for over 40 non-profit animal welfare organizations in Southern California. NOW more than ever dogs, cats and horses are being abandoned at an alarming rate…these animals need our help and we need yours!

We are the only animal rescue that invites a variety of grass-roots animal non-profits to our race to help them raise much needed funds to keep their doors open. We invite dog, cat, horse, sea mammal, wildlife and even a guinea pig rescue! In 2014 not only did this event help keep 40 rescue doors open, but also saved 73 dogs and cats, 4 horses, 1 seal and 1 guinea pig!

PLEASE SIGN UP for RACE FOR THE RESCUES and SAVE A LIFE...they are counting on us!
