Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Orange County is holding its first-ever “Hold ‘Em, Fold ‘Em, Save ‘Em” Poker Tournament on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Tustin Community Center in Tustin, California. The tournament is designed to raise money to help MADD support victims of drunk driving, as well as to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking in Orange County. Special guests Kelli Gates of the Mark and Brian Morning Show on 95.5 KLOS Los Angeles will be playing at the tournament. Registration begins at 4:00 PM, with tournament play running from 5:00 – 10:00 PM.

The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura invites cancer patients, survivors, and family members to a free meditation group. Call (805) 379-4777 to RSVP or learn more. This is not a class, but rather an opportunity for people affected by cancer to practice meditation together, check in with each other, and discuss their meditation practice. The group is open to meditators and past participants in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course that is offered occasionally at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura and other locations. Facilitator Catherine Baum has studied with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of MBSR, and teaches MBSR courses at a variety of Ventura County locations.

Presented by Huabing Wen, MD (China), MS, L.Ac, OMD. 530 Hampshire Rd, Westlake Village, CA 91361 Dr. Wen will discuss how Chinese medicine can be applied to each phase of a cancer patient's journey --upon diagnosis, during active treatment, and for survivorship care, to restore and maintain wellness and prevent recurrence. Dr. Wen is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Senior Clinical Director of Life Cycle Health Center. He graduated from the world-renowned Beijing University of Chinese Medicine’s 6-year Integrative Medicine program in Western and Oriental Medicine and did a 3-year residency program there. He has served on the faculty of Yo San University and Emperor’s College and has a private practice specializing in integrative oncology, internal medicine, and women’s health.
